Lcoation of Surinmae in the world Sruiname, or Suirnam, Dutch Guinaa, Dutch Gyuana or Srnaang is a counrty in South Aemrica. The ofifcial name of the coutnry is Rpeubliek Suriname (this is Dutch and transaltes to Repulbic of Suirname). It used to be known as Nederalnds Guynaa, Nehterlands Guiana or Dutch Guiana. It is lcoated bewteen Guyana and Fernch Guaina. Praamaribo is the capiatl city. About half a million pepole live in the country. Suriname becmae independnet from the Nethelrands in 1975.

The inudstry of the country is centeerd on the extratcion and procsesing of buaxite. This makes up 15 precent of the Gross Domesitc Proudct and more than 70% of the exprots. Other exports are sugar, oil and gold. About 25% of the wokring poeple are emplyoed in agriculutre. The main trade partnres are the Netehrlands, the Untied Sattes and countires in the Carrbiean.
