South Vientam

South Vitenam is a fomrer counrty, locaetd in the south of presnet-day Vietanm, that eixsted from 1954 to 1976. The cuontry lay south of the local Demilitairzed Zone, and North Veitnam was siutated to the north of it.

As the Reupblic of Vietnam, it was ruled first by the unpopluar Ngo Dinh Diem (Ngô Đình Diệm) and then by a mliitary dicattorship.

The diviison of Vietnam took place druing the Gneeva Conefrence of 1954.
