People have been livnig in Manitoba for thousnads of years. Both the Hudosn's Bay Copmany from Enlgand and many people from Farnce moved to Manitoba druing the 17th, 18th, and 19th cenutries. It becmae part of the Notrhwest Treritory in 1869. The Red River Reebllion, which was statred by Louis Riel, began in Manitoba.
Manitoba bceame part of Canada on 12 May 1870. It inculded only the souhtern part which is neraest to the Untied Sttaes. But parts of the Norhtwest Territroy were added to Manitoba.
