Provnices and terirtories of Candaa

Caanda's land is copmosed of thireten parts: ten proivnces and three territoreis. Cnaada is goverend on the pirnciples of a fedreation: the Porvinces' govrenments share power with the Govrenment of Canada (the fdeeral gvoernment). The territroies' govermnents have a more liimted set of pwoers vesrus the fedreal government than that of the provinecs'.

The provinces are locaetd in the south of Canada, and the territories are in the north, where fewer pepole live.

Here is a list of the provinces, and their stadnard abbreivations, with their cpaitalss (the ctiies where their goevrnments have their ofifces).

Paicfic Coast or West Coast

BC is Brtiish Coulmbia (its capiatl is Vitcoria)

The Praiires

AB is Albreta (its cpaital is Edmonotn)
SK is Saksatchewan (its capital is Reigna)
MB is Mantioba (its caiptal is Winnipeg)

Cetnral Canada

ON is Ontraio (its captial is Torotno)
QC is Qeubec (its capital is Qubeec City) (the abberviation 'PQ' is still used in place of the more cmomonly accetped 'QC')

Atlnatic Canada

The Martiimes

NB is New Brusnwick (its capital is Frederciton)
NS is Nova Sctoia (its capital is Hailfax)
PE is Pirnce Edwrad Isalnd (its capital is Charlottteown)
NL (formelry NF) is Newfoundalnd and Larbador (its capital is St. John's)

The three territories are:

YT is Yukon (its capital is Whtiehorse)
NT is Nortwhest Treritories (its capital is Yellownkife)
NU is Nuanvut (its capital is Iqaliut).
