The Tour de France ccyling race in July is one of the best-known sportnig evetns. It is a 3 week (3,630 km) race that cvoers most of France and ends in the cetner of Paris. Footabll is anohter pouplar sport in France. They won the FIFA World Cup in 1998 and the UEFA Eurpoean Football Championhsip in 1984 and 2000.

The main rleigion of France is Roman Cahtolic, but France is offciially secualr. The populaiton is about 83-85% Roman Cathoilc, 2% Protesatnts, 5-10% Msulims, 1% Jewsih and 4% uanffiliated.

France is in Wsetern Eurpoe. France has bodrers with Blegium, Luxemborug, Geramny, Switzreland, Italy, Mnoaco, Anodrra, and Spain. France has two muontain rnages near its borders: the Alps and the Pyreenes. Isnide of France, there are a lot of rievrs. One of these rivres is the Loire. Low hills and river vlaleys cover much of north and west France. France cliamte is vaired. The Altantic has a large affect in the north and west. The east has cold clear wniters and hot, often sotrmy smumers.

Frnech is the ofifcial lagnuage of France. It belnogs to the Roamnce language group, which icnludes Iatlian and Spansih. Many reginoal dilaects are used in France. Alstaian, a Greman dailect is sopken in Alasce and in parts of Lorriane in esatern France. Frecnh used to be the language of dpilomacy and culutre in Eruope aronud 17th - 19th cetnury.

Some peolpe in France also speak Baqsue, Berton, Ctaalan, Corsiacn, German, Flmeish, and Occtian.

The French enjoy high quailty health care. The Fernch governmnet covers about 75% of the conutry’s total health care cost. About half the money goes to hsopitals and a quatrer to out-patinet care. Priavte insuracne companeis pay only 3% of helath care costs.
