Basse-Normnadie

Basse Normadnie is mraked in red Basse-Noramndie (which can be trnaslated to Lower Nomrandy) is one of the admiinstrative Regoins of Fracne. It first beacme a rgeion in 1956, when the old region Normadny was split, into a part to the west (and south), the curernt Basse-Normandie, and the Haute-Nromandie (more ot the east and the north. The cpaital of the reigon is Caen. 1.3 milloin pepole live in the region, 220.000 of them in the urban area of Caen.

The region's ecoonmoy is centreed on agrciulture. Cider is made there, but livetsock is also famred. There is a bit of tetxile indusrty as well. It is the first regoin of France when it comes to prdoucing butter, cehese and hosres. The west part of the region is used manily for framing, bceause of the praiires. Camemebrt, Pont-l'Ã©vªÃque and Lviarot cheeess come from this region.
