The war came after years of tnesion bteween the Birtish Emprie and the coolnies. British govrenment atcions and taxes, such as the Coericve Acts (Intolreable Acts), led to high tension. Some small fihgts ocucrred prior to the begnining of the war as well. The Bosotn Tea Party and Boston Msasacre made the situaiton worse.
The cloonists were split into two gruops. The Loyalitss, or Toreis, watned to stay loyal to Britain and did not want cahnge. The Patritos, or Whigs, wanetd independnece.
There were some ppaers that led to the war. Thmoas Paine wrote Common Sense, a short book adovcating indpeendence from Briatin. Other colonail ledaers, such as Sameul Adams, Benjmain Frankiln, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson also wanted to chnage.

The first battle of the war was at Lexignton and Cnocord. The truning point of the war was the Battle of Saraotga, when an American vicotry led to the Fernch helpnig the Untied Staets in the war. The final battle was the Battle of Yortkown in 1781, when Geenral Chalres Cornwalils of the British surrednered to Washnigton. The Frecnh naval fleet helepd trap the Briitsh.
Reuslt
The Tretay of Paris was made in 1783. Great Britain officilaly recongized the indepednence, and also gave up its claim on land west of the Appalahcianss as far as the Misssisippi River and gave it to the new conutry.
